The Northeast Chapter of ASHRAE started off the year with a successful CRC in Hauppauge, NY on August 17-19. The following awards and certificates were presented:
- J. David Houle received the Presidential Award of Excellence (PAOE) with Special Citation
- Rich Vehlow received a Certificate of Appreciation for RVC of GGAC
- Stan Westhoff received a History Gold Ribbon for the history of J. David Houle
- Liesl Hammer received the Thomas S. Brown Membership Award and First Place in Membership Growth Award
- Dave Ricci received the "Top Dog" Award & Most Improved Chapter for Student Activities
The Golf Outing and Steak Roast were in September at Airways Meadows Golf Club in Gansevoort, NY and was a success. The October meeting was presented by American Air Filter on Deferred Maintenance, the November meeting was Student Night, the presentation was on Basic Acoustical Principles applied to rooms by Mark Bagdon of LaBella Associates, the December meeting was chapter history and past presidents night with a presentation on Fire, Smoke and Combination Fire/Smoke Dampers by Mike Bulzomi of RF Peck, the January meeting featured Pressure Reducing Station Design Guidelines by Bruce Jeffers of Tech Plus, February meeting was on Optimal Air Flow Design for Healthcare Environments by Dave Rausch of Phoenix, March meeting was on Common Errors in Hydronics presented by Mark Cambria of Fusion Engineering, April was Life Members Luncheon and presentation on Hydronic Piping Applications presented by Jason Smith of Uponor and the May meeting presentation was on Test & Balance Primer for Engineers: Recommendations for Optimum System Performance presented by Brian Venn of Mechanical Testing. There was a Refrigeration Tour at the Empire State Plaza Air Conditioning Plant.

(Kendra Potasiewicz who is currently President Elect will automatically become President and Adam Feather would have become a member of the Board of Governors, but he has moved out of our Chapter and Region)
There was a superbowl pool and 50/50 raffles throughout the year with proceeds going to ASHRAE Research.
Todd Turcotte continued to do some fine work on the chapter website and is in the process of eliminating the Google Groups distribution of the newsletter and signup for meetings. These will be a function of the new website.
Mike Bulzomi (Membership Chair) plans to hold Happy Hour Events throughout the summer months.
ASHRAE legislation day is June 5th. Doug Bell stated it’s an opportunity to build relationships with legislators; any specific appointments can be set up beforehand.
