Come to Join ASHRAE for the November lunch meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at the Italian American Community Center. Registration starts at 11:30AM, lunch and the presentation are set to begin at 11:45AM. This month’s presentation will be on the topic of “SMACNA Duct Leakage” as presented by Frank Parker.
Frank Parker Bio:
Frank Parker is currently the Capital District SMACNA Chapter Executive. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (1963), an M.S. in Psychology and Statistics (1984) and was ABD for the Ph.D. in the same field with a focus on Expert Systems (a division of Artificial Intelligence). After his undergraduate work, he began working as a Project Engineer for General Motors in the Defense Division, then as a Process Equipment/Design Engineer and Pilot Plant Supervisor for General Electric Silicones Products Dept. He then operated his own HVAC firm for 20 years and then moved on to become Director of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering for consulting firm ERM-Northeast's northern NY offices. After that he went into the independent design for industrial systems, focusing on recovery, treatment and/or destruction of toxic wastes that were the by-products of processes for which he had total/partial design responsibility. He retired from that effort several years ago, and currently holds the above part-time position. He is a past member of ASHRAE, AIChE, ACS, and others.
SMACNA Duct Leakage
"This presentation will review the history of duct leakage standards, current standards set by various agencies and organizations, and give sample calculations based on the SMACNA HVAC Air Duct Leakage Manual.
