Spring is almost upon us! After a bitter winter, it’s refreshing to think that we are in the midst of starting up chiller plants for the summer months. Our officers and BOG have also been working diligently on “starting up” some new programs and initiatives for the Chapter.
Matt Morgan has been working in conjunction with the Student Activities Chair, Dave Ricci, to re-establish a student chapter at Union College. A Dutchmen himself, Matt saw an opportunity to expand our local ASHRAE footprint and offer undergraduate students at Union a firsthand glimpse into our industry through the creation of the student chapter. Matt is new to the BOG this year in the role of Secretary and has sought to volunteer to better the chapter however he can. Thank you, Matt, for all that you have done and continue to do!
President-Elect Kevin Houghtaling has started preparing a June program with representatives from local utilities to educate the chapter on current and upcoming rebate programs. The intent is to make this a yearly event and invite other industry organizations to attend, broadening our ASHRAE footprint and encouraging collaboration amongst local groups. If you are interested in assisting with the planning of this event please reach out to him.
Our March Madness Bracket challenge is a new Research Promotion initiative undertaken by our awesome RP Chair Marianne Schumacher. All levels of basketball prowess are welcome to participate, no matter whether you make your selections based on favorite mascots, favorite teams, or KenPom metrics.
As always, the officers and BOG always value your feedback on how we can better serve our chapter membership. Should you wish to provide feedback, have ideas for programming and presentations, or want to become more involved with the chapter, please reach out to me at any time.
See you at our meeting on March 19th!
